NAME
df - show free disk space
SYNOPSIS
df
[ -f ] [ -d ] [ -? | -h ] [ d: ]
DESCRIPTION
Df
displays a space usage statistic for storage devices. A storage device
is a floppy diskette, a hard disk, a RAM disk, or any other device you
can store your files on. If you happen to have more than one partition
on a storage device each partition is reported independently.
Drives 'join'ed to another drive's subdirectory are reported with their
real characteristics, unlike MS-D*S 'dir' and 'chkdsk' command.
The output consists of columns showing total device space and currently
available free space in bytes, amount of free space expressed in percent
of total space, and at last the drive designator for the device. The
following is an example output:
Total space Free space Drive
362'496 131'072 36% a:
2'060'288 1'155'072 56% c:
40'607'744 8'216'576 20% d:
67'051'520 5'554'176 8% e:
12'976'128 7'417'856 57% f:
518'912 518'912 100% g:
OPTIONS
- -f
-
By default, floppy diskettes aren't included in the report for speed
reasons. With the '-f' switch you can cause the program the investigate
the floppy or floppies as well. If you don't have a floppy in the drive,
Df
continues without an error message.
- -d
-
If, for whatever reason, you don't want to include the harddisks in the
output, include the '-d' switch on the command line.
- d:
-
You can direct
Df
to only display the space statistic for drive 'd:'.
